On my third trip to Dallas, I finally made time to visit a very famous toy shop known as Dallas Vintage Toys!
See what the interior entails...
| Dallas Vintage Toys is located in the northern part of Dallas, Texas in an area that used to be dominated by small offices. The owners said this was their second location. |
| The interior was stuffed with toys as expected, everything from new/vintage to boxed/loose! |
| Here is what looks to be a reproduction of a 70's Mattel Shogun Warrior. I do not collect these, but I know they hold a special place in many grown kid's hearts today. |
| Here is a Mattel Pops Racer and Ninja pack from the 2008 Speed Racer movie line. The movie had one really cool scene, but the rest was forgettable. Sadly, the cast was really strong, but the movie did not use them to their fullest potential. The toy line bombed too. I regret not getting the Lego Speed Racer sets when they were released. I still do not have them to this day. |
| This is the once highly sought-after Marvel Legends Sinister 6 pack released from Toybiz around 2004-2005. For over a decade, it was the only way to get superposable versions of characters like Venom, Black Cat, and classic Electro. It has since been outdated, but the sculpts are still very endearing, and its nostalgia for me is very high. |
| The 1/6 G.I. Joe selection was pretty lacking. I imagine they do not get many trade-ins with these. |
| As expected in Texas, the WWE figure selection was pretty strong! |
| There is my friend Kent! I have been dipping my feet into buying certain wrestling characters that I like, and others with fun costumes and cheap price tags. |
| They had a decent Barbie selection too, but it did not have anything needed to buy. |
| Here are a few loose MOTU Classics and Masterverse figures. Masterverse is one of my favorite toy lines at the moment. The sculpts look awesome, they pose well, and they are well priced! Mattel is also distributing them better in retail stores than other competing lines. |
| I found an Xesray Studios Praetorian Guard. I have a few of these figures. They come from a company in China that covers a time period that other companies do not. My biggest problem with these are their price tags. The female gladiators go for astronomically high prices in the aftermarket. |
| Above is the now super rare Mecha-Hulk from the first wave of Hulk Classics from Toybiz in 2003. I remember seeing many of these at Kaybee Toys for under $10 each. Being a kid, I had limited funds, so I did not buy one. I purchased one later for a fair price, but I regret not buying one when they were super cheap. |
| This Castle Grayskull entrance makes the store more fun, and is apparently a staple of its atmosphere! |
| Inside the Castle Grayskull room are cabinets filled with rare toys sealed and autographed by celebrities. I personally do not care about this type of collecting, but I did want to note that this store had more autographed toys than any other toy store I had been to. |
| The room also had an artifact of the past, a giant sized stuffed Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys R Us! It is sad to think that Toys R Us has not been a true store in the United States for 7 years. |
| My haul from Dallas Vintage Toys included some well priced WWE figures and a Masterverse Skeletor from the New Adventures of He-Man! |
Dallas Vintage Toys has a huge selection of toys with a little bit of everything; it is definitely worth checking out. If you are in Dallas for a few days, make an effort to go there!
