2023 Macy's Toys R Us!

On my recent trip to San Francisco, California, I stumbled upon one of the few, rare branches of Toys R Us that opened after their mass 2018 closing in the U.S.!

Check out what lies on their shelves (or what does not) below!

As I was walking along the streets of San Francisco this summer of 2023 (the feces/syringe epidemic is not as bad as the news says), I stumbled upon a small branch of Toys R Us attached to a Macy's!

The inside was kind of meh. I was hoping for a type of "KB Toys Outlet" vibe with discounted obscure stock, but what I saw was far inferior.

Instead, the store was filled with leftover modern stock that does not even move in standard stores. Here is the lame, overpriced, 5-point articulated Ghost Rider figure Hasbro recently put out. Hasbro is the best action figure designer in the world, yet they still put out garbage like this hoping for quick cash with little effort.

Here is the McFarlane DC 7-inch stuff in high loads at every store. I would actually be interested purchasing these if they were not 7 inches and DC was not passing excrement as moving picture shows.

Here is the 1/12 League of Legends line created by Spin Master. These are decent figures, but nothing I need to spend money on. I believe everyone else felt the same way, because this line is dead.

I do not collect the 1/12 Star Wars Black Series figures, but I do admire them, because most of them hold many of the same properties as Marvel Legends. As you can see, none of those made it to this store. The only Star Wars figure here is the retro style version of the highly popular Reva Sevander from the Obi Wan series! [Sarcasm]

Since creativity has vanquished into oblivion, Hollywood has been digging deep into every previous franchise to leech more money from the public. Dungeons & Dragons is a perfect example! Here is a movie nobody asked for with toys that nobody is going to purchase!

I guess what is left of the Toys R Us marketing department thought it would be profitable to have some "interactive" toy experiences around the store. Playing with Mr. Potato Head can be fun, but something about the atmosphere sadly made this playset look dull.

The only riveting stock I found were some Barbies normally exclusive to online retailers. Not only is this Jane Goodall doll of interesting subject matter, but she is also on clearance!

Mattel has been periodically releasing music artists under their "Barbie Signature Music Series" for a few years now. Their Tina Turner doll sold out almost immediately. The same cannot be said for poor Gloria Estefan. This Miami Sound Machine has some smooth tunes, but apparently not a lot of Barbie fans.

The coolest thing I saw at the store was this large Lego construction of the hippie minifigure from their CMF Series 7. It was just fitting!

I was not impressed with this poor rekindling of Toys R Us. If corporate really wants to bring the store back, they are going to have to do more than carry lame stock and rely on nostalgia.
