Kentucky Joe 2020 Custom Figure Contest!

Every Joe Con seemed to get cancelled this year... except for one little show in Kentucky! On July 24-25, I traveled to Lousiville for a chance to enter some of my work into an action figure customizing contest! AND I HAD A BLAST!

The contest was sponsored by Mattsquatch Customs, who makes great resins casts of many robust 1/6  scaled accessories! I entered 3 of my customs.

I wanted to show off my rooting skills on 1/6 figures, so I brought some of my villains of the world!

Villains of the World!

Saharan Scoundrel - Cotswold Ed figure with rooted beard and Arab costume made by fellow collector Matt Bil's mom

Fu Manchu - Cotswold Lee figure with rooted mustache and costume made by AleabarasStuff

Rastafarian Ruffian - Cotswold Ed figure with rooted devil beard, hat knitted by knittingcog in England and costume made by LayleeMDollClothes

There were about 20 entries ranging in all scales. Here were some that caught my eye!

All the entries

Captain Maddox-esque Clint Eastwood from Firefox

Quest family with the sinister Dr. Ashida from one of my favorite episodes! These were put together by cool guy Jack Hall!

Adventure Team Shepherd - I thought an AT chaplain was a cool idea, I will probably eventually design my own

Commissioner Thomas Magnum! He and the chaplain were assembled by Neil Silliman!

When the awards were announced, my name was called out for 2nd place for my Rastafarian!

Mr. Mattsquatch and the winners of the contest

I received $75 in Kentucky Joe show bucks, and picked up the super awesome Defesa Aerea Falcon figure from the Cotswold Collectibles table to remember the show by! Greg of Cotswold said the Rastafarian was a "clean custom." I was flattered!

A worthwhile trip!

I had a super time at the show and would recommended anyone nearby to attend! It had great people, great prices, and great atmosphere! It is second to JoeLanta in my book! I did not particularly take many shots of this show or my awesome haul, but here is a few of the nude repro Joes I found for around $10-$20 each! These will make for great customs in the future!

Plastic Gold - I can't believe how high these can get on eBay!

I hope to attend this show again next year! G.I.Joe forever!
